Amazon on Blogger.

Amazon was founded in 1995,spurred by what Bezos called "regret minimization framework", his effort to fend off regret for not staking a claim in the Internet gold rush. While company lore says Bezos wrote the business plan while he and his wife drove from New York to Seattle, that account appears to be apocryphal.

The company began as an online bookstore;while the largest brick-and-mortar bookstores and mail-order catalogs for books might offer 200,000 titles, an online bookstore could offer more. Bezos named the company "Amazon" after the world's largest river. Since 2000, Amazon's logotype is an arrow leading from A to Z, representing customer satisfaction (as it forms a smile); the goal was to have every product in the alphabet.

In 1994, the company incorporated in the state of Washington, beginning service in July 1995, and was reincorporated in 1996 in Delaware. The first book Amazon.com sold was Douglas Hofstadter's Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought.[10] Amazon.com issued its initial public offering of stock on May 15, 1997, trading under the NASDAQ stock exchange symbol AMZN, at an IPO price of US$18.00 per share ($1.50 after three stock splits in the late 1990s).

Amazon's initial business plan was unusual: the company did not expect a profit for four to five years; the strategy was effective. Amazon grew steadily in the late 1990s while other Internet companies grew blindingly fast. Amazon's "slow" growth provoked stockholder complaints that the company was not reaching profitability fast enough. When the dot-com bubble burst, and many e-companies went out of business, Amazon persevered, and finally turned its first profit in the fourth quarter of 2001: $5 million, just 1¢ per share, on revenues of more than $1 billion, but the profit was symbolically important.

In 1999, Time magazine named Bezos Person of the Year, recognizing the company's success in popularizing online shopping.

Kenya Vision 2030

Have you ever thought "could a car catch up with another one that left an hour ago given that both are traveling at same speed and are using same route and are heading same destination? " By Mutiso.
This is the exact situation in this world where countries that are 3rd world are trying to catch up with the 1st world countries. We've forgotten that By the time we reach 2030(Kenyas' vision) those countries will still be ahead of us with another 30 years.
This is because we try to 'compete' with these guys by coping how they do their things. This is where we are actually going wrong!! Coz we are supposed to forcus on our goals and look for other methods of doing things that are fast, efficient, cheap and practical.

In order to achieve vision 2030 then we should devise methods of doing it before we actually say we gonna do it.

“The lure of money to the families is huge. The parents see that when their daughters or their sons involved in this bring some money, their lives change and therefore they tolerate these things,” said Kenyan Government Director of Children’s Services, Ahmed Hussein.

To me knowlwdge is "to value the pursuit of knowledge, we must be free to follow wherever that search may lead us. The free mind is not a barking dog, to be tethered on a ten-foot chain"
And "Wisdom is not finally tested in the schools, Wisdom cannot be pass'd from one having it to another not having it, Wisdom is of the soul, is not susceptible of proof, is its own proof".
If these guys brought us the education/civilization to help us, then they should allow us use it not showing us how to use it.

The publication of Kenya Vision 2030: First Medium Term Plan (MTP) 2008-2012 marks a critical milestone for our nation because it is now the primary document which outlines the consensus on policies, reform measures, projects and programmes that the Grand Coalition Government is committed to implement during 2008-2012.
Quote by a politician

The dream town in the vision 2030 as shown during its launch.

The unveiling of Kenya Vision 2030 marks an important milestone in our country's development as it comes soon after the successful implementation. Which is very true but will we ever achieve it. Lets be a little sincere and realistic.

Could a dream come true? Some one said that it is not a must that an organization to attain its vision in the long run but just show some improvement and thats all. is this what they are leading us to? Why is it not an Ojective or a goal but a vision.
A vision is sometimes called a picture of your company in the future but it’s so much more than that. Your vision statement is your inspiration, the framework for all your strategic planning.

Ten million Kenyans are facing starvation

By visiting this site, you will have contributed to the starving Kenyans:

"Formerly, when religion was strong and science weak, men mistook magic for medicine; now, when science is strong and religion weak, men mistake medicine for magic." There are some people in Kenya who do not accept the above statement because an health clinic ceter is still a dream to be fulfilled.

At least 10 people have died of hunger in northern Kenya, Dr Boniface Musila a health official in Mandera dicleared.

More than 30% of people's livestock in the area have died due to the drought.

The drought in the area along the border with Somalia has led to competition for land and water.

This has led to frequent clashes in Kenya and Somalia with conflicts between pastoralists and farmers.

One of the pictures taken from the area.

Unfortunately Our leaders are not supportive, some one argued that "How can a society that exists on instant mashed potatoes, packaged cake mixes, frozen dinners, and instant cameras teach patience to its young? " From where does one get mashed potatoes in an area where three years have past without any one harvesting 'anything' from their ancestral land.

As equality increases, so does the number of people struggling for predominance.
This is one of those Kenyas that live below poverty line in a
country where range rovers and Mercedes are being used by a number of the leaders.
Equality may perhaps be a right, but no power on earth can ever turn it into a fact.
